To the Sportsmen of Kentucky-
For your better information, I have here given the time of a good horses running upon a firm course, the four mile heats.
MOGUL run with his weight agreeable to his age, as follows:
The first mile he run in one minute and 57 seconds, the second mile he run in two minutes and one second, the third mile he run in two minutes and seven seconds, the fourth mile he run in two minutes and thirteen seconds, which made the first heat eight minutes and eighteen seconds, and I rubbed him half an hour and started him again, and he run the second heat in eight minutes and forty five seconds. The course was exact measure and without it's not worth while training a horse at all.
Such running as this I have never seen before, by any horse or mare, therefore I am persuaded I never shall see such again. I am done racing for good causes and this is the the information of those that will.
