The younger set, who are actually our own children, like to refer to their senior citizen parents as; old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. This of course is accompanied by a great deal of “Eye Rolling”. God help us Old fogies but we are about to be joined by the infamous “baby boomers”. We are taking our hearing aids out in readiness for the whining. We Geezers walk a little slower these days, some with a cane, and you are impatient to get around and in front of us on the street. Our eyes and hearing are not what they once were and you tend to get cranky when you have to repeat yourself sometimes. We have worked hard, never in our lives expecting a ‘hand-out.’ We raised our children, worshipped our God and grown old together and most of us believed in the sanctity of marriage. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill. How true that is, but you will never experience the ‘hill’ that we climbed nor the roads we traveled. Your roads are paved for you because we did the paving.
But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration. In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. We surpassed the rest of the world so far you might say we "Blew their Doors Off." We graduated from High School with a better education than you had graduating from College. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, and an ‘Operator’ asking “Number Please?” We remember ten cent gasoline and the ‘Attendants” who put it in the gas tank then washed your windows and checked your oil with out being told and they did it with a smile. We had milk and ice delivered to our homes and I remember a girl who milked two cows every morning and running it through a separator before heading down the road to High School. For those of you who don’t know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days. Hang in there Junior, ya just might learn something.
We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. Our fathers and Grandfathers won World War I and we won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam; Our sons and daughters fought in Desert Storm and are now fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. We proudly quote the pledge of allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We still wish our friends, neighbors and family “Merry Christmas” without worrying whether or not we are being “Politically Correct” because we are celebrating the birth of Christ our Savior and we are doing it with Love for Him in our hearts.
We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn’t fight for the Socialist States of America we fought for the “land of the free and home of the brave.” We fought for “The American Dream” and the knowledge that we could accomplish or become anything we wanted to if we were willing to work for it. Our government wasn’t taxing us for the purpose of redistributing our wealth while they exempted themselves from the laws they made for us.
Yes, we went to foreign lands to fight for America’s freedom so that the fight would not come to our soil. We remembered when brothers fought brothers, cousins fought cousins and families were torn apart because each of our ancestors followed what was in their hearts. I, of course, am referring to the Civil War. America never wants to see this again. We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag; Old Glory, The Stars and Stripes, America’s Proud Banner. We will sing for you the Star Spangle Banner, America, and America the Beautiful because we learned these songs in school and church when we were young and we know them by heart and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read about in history books and we feel no obligation what so ever to apologize to anyone or any other country for America and what we stand for. We stand for FREEDOM.
Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent. It was the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic congress. You fell for the “Hope and change” which in reality was nothing but “Hype and lies.” You have tasted Socialism and seen the face of Evil, and are still hearing his lies on your TV set, day after day he and his regime spouts his lies and false promises. The Liberal Media still defend him and those who refuse to read the truth that is out there, begging to be read by everyone, are still waiting for the Hope and Change he promised that will never come. He and the Congress have extended un-employment so many times that some of you find it better and OK to stop looking for a job and instead are depending on Big Government to support you cradle to grave. The “Land of entitlements” by Big Government is trying to push aside forever Our “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave” and so goes “The American Dream.” All this is being replaced by the promise of “a free lunch.” Is this what we want for our Grandchildren who are, as I write being taught one of the biggest Hoaxes of the 21st Century that “Global Warming” is coming and it is caused by man? This is the biggest boondoggle I have ever seen to try and separate you and your money. Why must people expend so much energy to do bad things when they could be doing some good for their fellow man?
You who “bought the farm” so to speak when you put Obama in our revered White House are now making a lot of noise but most are all too interested in their careers and “Climbing the social ladder” to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. It appears that we old codgers care more about our grandchildren than some care about their children. For those of you who fell for the “great lie” in 2008 and all the Liberal media who felt that trickle of excitement go up your legs are now feeling a bit of “voters” remorse. With all the education you readily brag about, you still didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and all the red flags and sirens he and his wife La Belle Michelle handed out; instead you happily gulped down the kool-aid and begged for more please. Now you’re paying the price as are we, and whining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it in for our futures as free Americans.
Well, don’t worry you miserable ingrates, the Grey Haired Brigade is here, and on November 2, 2010 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we usually get to where we’re going, and in November 2010 we are going to the polls by the millions. This land does not belong to the Muslim Messiah in the White House or to the Wicked Witch of the West Nancy Pelosi and 'Dirty Harry' Reid. It belongs to We the People, and We the People plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. If you are not too busy, we would like your company on November 2, and you might learn something in the bargain.
remember the next time our beloved Stars and Stripes is presented; get off your
ever loving Butts', place your hand over your heart, honor your country, and
recite the Pledge of Allegiance. And just for the hell of it, you might say a
little prayer and thank God for the old geezers of the Grey-Haired Brigade who
saved your butt again….

I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.
I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.
