(Means the Color red)
Interesting Colorado Facts:
*State bird is the Lark Bunting.
*State tree is the Blue Spruce.
*State flower is the Rocky Mt. Columbine.
*Colorado was part of the Louisiana Purchase 1803.
*Colorado was the 38th state to be admitted to the Union on
August 1, 1876 by President Ulysses S. Grant.
*Colorado has 58 mountains which are lovingly called;
"Colorado's 14'ers" (mountains exceeding 14,00 feet in height)
*Mt. Elbert is the highest at 14,433'.
*Mount Evans is 14,264.
The road to Mt. Evans began way back in 1915 as
a part of the "Peak to Peak" Highway
that would connect 'Longs Peak' to Mt. Evans and 'Pikes Peak'.
The dream of linking these three 14,000'ers by roadway
proved unfeasible at the time.
Today, the Mount Evans road remains the highest
paved automobile route in North America.
Mount Evans is only 50 miles from the "Mile High" city
of Denver, Colorado at 5,280-foot elevation. It
crests at almost three times the mile high city.
Now that I have you all bored to tears with all the
above information that you really didn't want to know
in the first place I will insert some of my pictures
that were taken while driving this fabulous road.
These are copyrighted photos ~
If you would like to have a copy of one of them
please e mail me and I will send it to you via your
personal e mail address.
Some of the photos will be used in my new 2008
Calendar that I make for family and friends.
