Brigadier General Basil Wilson Duke
Gen. Duke was one of "Morgan's Raiders" -
he served the Confederacy from 1861 to 1865.
2nd Kentucky Cavalry and the 9th Kentucky Calvary

Many things have been written about General Duke but I guess for me the most interesting thing about the man is that he was born in my ggggGrandfather Abraham Buford's house, Richland, located outside Georgetown, Kentucky.  His parents were Nathaniel W. Duke and Mary P. Currie Duke.  They both died when he was a young boy of 11 and 8.  Nathaniel was the brother to Mary Buford's husband James Keith Duke and was reared at Richland by his Aunt Mary and Uncle James.  Mary was ggggGrandfather Abraham's only daughter and she inherited the Richland home.   If you wish to know more just Google Basil Wilson Duke and you will get a ton of information.  The following are documents  pertaining to his Presidential Pardon.
